The Ambu bag is a silicone manual resuscitator that emergency teams use to manually provide controlled breathing to patients who are unable to breathe on their own. This self-inflating bag automatically re-inflates with each compression, requiring no external power source. A non-rebreathing valve allows only fresh air or oxygen to reach the patient during ventilation. It is available in adult pediatric and neonatal sizes with the appropriate mask size and bag volume for each patient group.
